At our San Francisco woodworking studio, we believe furniture should be more than just functional — it should tell a story. One of our recent creations, a handcrafted coffee table, is a perfect example of how timeless materials and thoughtful design can come together to bring warmth and character into any home.

This coffee table is built on a solid framework of oak plywood, carefully shaped and reinforced for long-term durability. To create its graceful curves, we wrapped the form in flexible plywood, allowing us to achieve a seamless, rounded silhouette. This base is then dressed in solid oak, each plank chosen for its grain, color, and strength — giving the piece both visual warmth and structural integrity.

The wood is finished with Rubio Monocoat, a high-quality natural oil that protects while enhancing the oak’s natural beauty. Unlike many conventional finishes, Rubio Monocoat penetrates the wood in a single layer, highlighting the grain and providing a soft, matte luster that feels as good as it looks.

To complete the design, we added a marble top — elegant and cool to the touch — offering contrast to the warm, organic oak. The combination of stone and wood brings balance, sophistication, and a sense of quiet luxury.

Why Choose Custom-Made Furniture?

Mass-produced furniture may serve a purpose, but it often lacks soul. Custom pieces, on the other hand, are made with care, intention, and attention to the unique needs of your space.

When you choose a handcrafted piece, you’re not just buying furniture — you’re investing in something made to last, made to be loved. You’re choosing textures that feel right, dimensions that fit your home, and finishes that reflect your taste. You’re choosing a story — one told through craftsmanship, natural materials, and detail.

Our clients often say that custom furniture brings a different kind of warmth to their home — a quiet presence that speaks of quality, heritage, and the human hands behind it. It’s the kind of warmth that doesn’t just fill a room, but lives in it.
